IIDD, Feb 17th

I realize that patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness towards anyone. -Edith Cavell, nurse and humanitarian (1865-1915)

      Hi Lads!

If our itinerary unfolds, as planned, we should be in McLaren Vale, south of Adelaide, sipping Shiraz. Will try to work out date/time difference and broadcast, live, from a winery, (with any luck, Fox Creek), tasting counter. With enough hootch under our belts, anything should be possible. Cheers, Patrizzio!

      Pat,

Regret that I could not join you Wednesday. It was the day.

Thanks for the posting on the Covernton wake -- pleased to hear that it was
what it should be. I look forward to hearing more.

I could do a short ride this morning if that works for you. I have to play
the FND tonight, likely a couple matches, and will need to conserve some
      energy.
      W

Hi Guys, I will heading down to that area probably after lunch. I have a
flat I need to fix and a bunch of paperwork to get done this morning, let me
know your plans and maybe I can join up.

      Thanks, Al

      P,

Thanks for the ride. It was just the warm up I needed before my matches tonight. By the look of the weather out there now our timing was brilliant.

Jussi Adler-Olsen is the Danish author I am reading whose name I was trying to conjure up. The title is Mercy or The Keeper of Lost Causes. I thought it was a recommendation from you.

The forecast is dampish over the next two days but let’s see what we can fit in. W

      Hi Giggster!

As you mention, really glad we went when we did as it was simply pouring when we left the theatre parkade! After we said goodbye, headed home to dipsy-doodle around Kits Point a few times so that I could log 41.33K on my odometre by time I was back at The Heartbreak Terrace Parkade!

In fact, I did recommend Mercy but didn't recognize UK title! Here is Randy's blog address:

Did you have a chance to figure out if you can attend VIWF on Monday? Cheers for now. Patrizzio!

Glad to hear that Wayne is earning his keep.   Say hello to Corinne for me.   I am quite busy looking after our sweet granddaughter in the am . Then I play a lot of bridge in the pm. It keeps my brain working and I certainly need that.   Have a great weekend.

      Hi Peggster!

Cora Lee sends along her fond regards. We really enjoyed seeing The Adventures of Tintin this afternoon at Tinsel Town. Had not realized that it is an admixture of real actors and digital animation, (something called "performance capture" and a new technology called "Volume"), all in 3D! Based on a number of the stories in the classic Belgian comic book series, (27, I think), written and illustrated by Hergé, it contains all the memorable characters, (Snowy, Captain Haddock, the bumbling detectives, Thompson & Thompson, Bianca Castefiore), and is great, good fun. Naturally, it ends with a promise of more to come.

Glad we went to the afternoon matinee as it was simply pouring when we left the theatre parkade. Around 10:30am, Whirlygig and I had gone for a quick cycle around Stanley park. While there was a light drizzle when we set out, by the time we reached the Seawall at the foot of Denman and Davie the rain, such as it was, had stopped completely. Rest of ride was more than delightful and more than comfortable as temperature was just right for cycling.

I continued with Giorgio to Point Grey and Macdonald and then waved goodbye to dipsy-doodle around Kits Point a few times so that I could log 41.33K on my odometre by time I was back at The Heartbreak Terrace Parkade.

Cora Lee is off to a United Church facilitators' seminar this evening with Beth Hayward, minister at Trinity. All day tomorrow as well. Aimed at those in five presbytery churches charged with helping their congregations make decisions about whether to amalgamate or close. Just Maggie and I for most of evening. Don't mind as I'm reading a very interesting book, Martin Limón's The Wandering Ghost, A Sergeants Sueño & Bascom Mystery. What makes it particularly interesting for me is that it is set in South Korea in the mid-1970's. George and Ernie, members of the 8th US Army Criminal Investigation Division in Seoul, have been dispatched to the DMZ where an American female MP assigned to the headquarters of the 2nd Infantry Division has gone missing. Have barely started this work and can hardly wait to read first four in series!

Popped downstairs when we returned from movie to find Flamin' not feeling very well. She thinks she might be suffering from food poisoning. At any rate, she wasn't going to go to Whistler, as planned, at least tonight. Whether she goes tomorrow will depend on how she is feeling, I suppose.

      Cheers for now. Patrizzio!

We are hanging in there. I think the Greeks...

We are hanging in there. I think the Greeks are more upset about the EU making them look like common criminals. As you know they are not the enemy. The system may have some flaws but the average Greek is not causing the problems and they are the ones paying. I am disgusted the way the EU is managing the situation; they are only damaging Greece's chances of any sort of recovery. It is a frustrating time. Have a wonderful time on your trip!!! Thanks for touching base.

      Hi again, Jill!

Thanks for update. Great to be able to tap into local knowledge! Thanks for best wishes on our coming trip. Cheers for now. Patrizzio!

      Hi Big Al!

Enjoyed the high-heeled flippers but friend in Oz had sent joke along last week!
      Cheers for now. Patrizzio!

      Greetings from New Plymouth,

Gorgeous day with about 28 degrees, and a great view of Taranaki (volcano). Some big hikes and walks in area, working off some of the wines.

We are at Sutton Place, and will give you a call after arrival from airport.

Dinner at G.I. Sounds good-Michele, are you skiing, or are you free for dinner as well on Sunday? Francesca would be happy to prep some dinner at either of your places for the returning skiers on Monday, or we can just do pizzas or whatever..(probably the easiest idea-Bella and Nats both have great pizzas!) Look forward to seeing you all in a few days. Cheers, Gregg

      Hi again, New Plymouthians!

We didn't visit New Plymouth when on the North Island, just the west coast of the South Island. Sounds wonderful.

As far as I know, Prince Valiant will be cooking dinner for her on Sunday evening. I guess he's home for Reading Break. With respect to pizza, Cora Lee won't be able to have any of crust if you order from Bella or somewhere else, other than Rocky Mtn Flat, as they have gluten-free crusts. If Lurch wants to do dinner, I'm sure that would be welcomed. Probably best at The Cave since that is where everyone will be. Anyway, we'll chat once you've settled into Sutton Place. Cheers for now. Patrizzio!

      Aloha!

Sounds like just the 4 of us for dinner on Sunday-maybe Bridges or Sandbar, but you can pick! We can do the Rocky Mountain pizzas etc on Monday night.

Sounds like Michele & Cora Lee will be tied up with Strata on Monday, but we can save leftovers,if the hungry skiers are able to accommodate.

Will call you Sunday, and aim to come over late PM. Cheers, Gregg

      Hi Groggage!

Gather you are in Hawaii now. Where?

Her Majesty has expressed an interest in Edibles:

      http://www.ediblecanada.com/

If that is fine with you, we'll make a reservation: 6:00pm?

Flamin' just came up to beg for some soda crackers to settle her tummy. Personally, I think was all jacked up last night, suffering from an overhang today! Cheers, Patrizzo!

Just a trick-still in New Plymouth, but en route tomorrow night from Auckland to Vancouver.
Edibles sounds great-go ahead with the reservation, and we'll aim to get over for a glass of wine before. Cheers, Gregg

      Hi Folks,

We’re going to Granville Island tomorrow a.m.. Thought we could just drop off the Japan Rail Pass at your place. No coffee necessary! Charlie

      Hi Champagne!

I gather that you have already consulted with Her Majesty! Nevertheless, I may well be home, depending n when you pop by. Probably go swimming as forecast looks dismal! Cheers for now. Patrizzio!

      Hi Gayle and Derek!

Trust all goes well with you and family. Just a quick note to ask about your time here as we'd like to plan an evening or two while you are here. We leave on March 5th. Let us know a few dates, if possible, and we'll take things from there. Cheers for now. Patrizzio!
