IIDD, June 14th

Hi Flamin' and Sarge!

Great shot of the peleton! Trip sounds fabuloso. We are green with envy but will drown our sorrows with all the expensive wine Grogg will bring when he stays with us this coming Thursday/Friday and there are just the three of us! Lurchesca isn't coming over until Saturday for the Twits gig in West Van!

Just had a chat with Sylvia and Ray really isn't all that well. He complained about feeling feverish when we rode out to Steveston on Saturday. He is now taking antibiotics as it seems he might have a bladder infection! She says he's not sleeping well, on top of all this. She thinks he has worked himself into a tizzy over house, garden and tutoring. Apparently they went to BCAA yesterday for travel insurance and he neglected to mention that one of his medications, (not sure if it has something to do with his pacemaker/heart condition, or hip), had changed within a given period, according to questionnaire. He is now worried that policy will be invalid or cost an arm and a leg. Sylvia said that "as you know, he doesn't like to spend money", so she is simply going to call and pay any extra charges. On Sunday, he was feeling pretty low and she phoned one of his students and told individual that Ray wasn't well enough to have lesson. She told him that student had called to cancel lesson and he was more than relieved! Just an indication of how hard he pushes himself, unnecessarily and very foolishly, it seems to me, at least in these circumstances.

At any rate, I sent him a copy of your message to cheer him up. He is always saying how impressed he is with Flamin's endurance! Feel badly that he went riding on Saturday when he probably should have laid low. Do hope the medication kicks in. Nothing worse than starting an extended holiday and already feeling tough. Hard to enjoy what one is supposed to enjoy, friends, family, surroundings, and often difficult to recover with a demanding schedule already mapped out. I developed a fairly nasty sinus infection just before we left for London last July and took me a couple of weeks to beat bug, with drag of going to a local clinic and all that entailed. Very pleased with treatment, etc., but not really how one wants to spend one's time.

Dom Marcellino has committed to the Auchentoshan, Triple Distilled , Lowland, so I'll check that off on list.

Yesterday, Whirlygig and I did the UBC/Marine Drive Loop. Logged 63K by time I was home, then spent most of the early evening watching the poor Canucks struggle to lose to Bruins to force 7th game tomorrow, here in Vancouver! Cora Lee was at WISH so she didn't have to watch the carnage!

Cloudy and cool so far, with threat of rain later this afternoon. This being the case, I will head out for my ride once I've had a spot of breakfast. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizio! Andiamo! Andiamo! Andiamo!
