IIDD, June 1st

Hi Flamin' and Sarge!

Trust that the sky has brightened and the vino is flowing! Bit of spotty rain yesterday, most of the morning and early afternoon but then cleared up quite nicely by around 3:00pm, just in time for me to ride to my physio, opposite Edgewater Casino. Did a few errands after appointment, up to Safeway on 4th, for a scant 25K, but it was so pleasantly warm, little if any wind, that I quite enjoyed the scenery, especially the babes on grass around Kits Pool!

Whirlygig and I rode out to UBC at 8:30am, along Spanish Banks and on to Marine Drive to Arthur Lang, cutting of just over the bridge to ride out to Iona Island. It was unusually calm, often a very strong wind, I suppose because it is so close to water, and we really enjoyed relative quiet, chatting about all and sundry. Fellow cyclist pointed out a huge bald eagle on our way back. Took its presence as a good omen for Canucks/Boston game tonight! Giorgio showed me a nifty little short-cut over bridge one had to take to get to airport before AL was constructed. Takes one past River Rock Casino and thence to CSTB. There to Heather and all the way down hill, once past climb to 41st, of course), to Seawall and back home. I accompanied Whirlygig to Cornwall and MacDonald and then waved goodbye, making for Harbour Terrace. Few minor dipsy-doodles and I was home with 65K on odometer.

Quite cloudy during most of ride and North Shore was really socked in, mountain tops barely visible, if at all. Barely a cloud in the sky, now, just before 4:30pm. Will be leaving shortly to stroll up to 2nd and Vine to watch the game and have dinner with out friends, Dawn and Gerry Martin, in from Terrace. Great folk and we've not seen them for a bit so will be fun to catch up. View from their place is simply spectacular. Can't remember if either of you have ever been there with us, probably for fireworks. If so, you'll know stunning city/ocean panorama.

Chloƫ left for Vegas this morning. Just before 8:00am, Gaelan and Jean-Paul picked her up. Corinne happened to be outside giving something to one of people from church hiring committee and said hello to chauffeurs. Apparently, George, Gaelan's father, was on phone and pleading with her not to go! I gather he is to start his chemo shortly but it seems that he may well think that he won't be around when goils return on Monday! Probably irrational but not a good sign, about his health, no matter how you look at it. Sad situation, especially given horrendous lawsuit family is currently fighting with George's two sisters who seem intent on doing him out of a $20 million plus estate, given their parents' real estate holdings in Dunbar, both commercial and private property. Couldn't be any crazier than Cora Lee's soap!!!

Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizio!
